The demand is particularly high for Civil Engineers, making it the most sought-after engineering job in Australia. Additionally, Software Engineers are also in great demand, in line with the ongoing digital transformation across various industries.

However, there’s a substantial gap between the demand and the supply of engineering professionals. In 2023, the demand is expected to grow by 42,000 workers, reaching a total of 442,000. This is more than double the projected increase in the available supply, which is estimated to grow by just 8,000 individuals during the year. The demand for Civil Engineering professionals is expected to grow by 13.4% while the demand for Aircraft Maintenance Engineering professionals is expected to grow by 16.7% in the future.
