The University of Edinburgh is one of the oldest universities in the world and the sixth oldest university in Scotland. The university was established as Tounis College, and later, in 1583, it got its current name. By the 18th century, the university transformed itself into the best open institute in Scotland. The University of Edinburgh has five main sites in Edinburgh. Central area, King’s Building, BioQuater, Easter Bush and Western General. Academic Requirements (Undergraduate)
- 75% or more in HSC (Pre-Engineering or Pre Medical only) will be considered for entry to year 1 of an undergraduate degree that is offered by the College of Science and Engineering.
- The applicant will not be considered to study medicine or veterinary medicine on the basis of the HSC Intermediate.
- Other than Pre- Engineering and Pre-Medical, no other stream of HSC is considered suitable for direct entry to an undergraduate program.
- To access a degree in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, an applicant has to complete Edinburgh’s Foundation Program. Only then will they be considered for an Undergraduate degree in any Arts, Humanities and Social Science program.
Academic Requirements (Graduate)
- You will be considered for admission to a one year taught Master’s Program if you have a 4-year Undergraduate degree with a minimum First Class Bachelor’s Degree (Division 1)
- To be considered for entry into an MBA program, an applicant must have a First Class Bachelor’s Degree (Division 1) and at least 3 years of full-time work experience.
- If an applicant doesn’t meet the minimum academic requirements, we may require them to complete the GMAT with a minimum score of 600 to be considered for admission to Edinburgh’s MBA, Executive MBA, or Strategic Leadership Certificate.
English Language Requirement
- O Level English at a minimum of grade C will be accepted, provided the applicant has continued to A-Level study
- For MBChB Medicine and BVM&S Veterinary Medicine, the English language requirement can be higher than the levels listed below

For Undergraduate Programs: You must apply online through UCAS, the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service. You can apply for up to five different degrees at any university.
For Graduate Programs: Any graduate program applications will be sent directly to the University of Edinburgh. The institution has an online application system, which can be found on the right-hand side of each program page.
Application processing fee for Undergraduate Programs
- £22 for a single choice, rising to £26.50 for two choices or more.
Application processing fee for Postgraduate Programs
- The University of Edinburgh doesn’t charge a fee for you to apply for admission.
