University of British Columbia Overview
Established in the year 1905, the University of British Columbia is a public institution located in the Canadian province of British Columbia. It is one of the most popular and oldest universities in Canada and since 1915, UBC has been opening doors to students with the curiosity, drive and vision to shape the world in a better way. Accomplishments
The university ranks 34th in Time Higher Education and 46th in the QS World University Ranking 2022. The University of British Columbia is the recipient of the awards like the CFPC Continuing Professional Development Award, Family Medicine Forum Award for Excellence in Research and Royal College Accredited CPD Provider Innovation Award. Campus of University of British Columbia
The University of British Columbia has two campuses – the Vancouver campus and the Okanagan campus.
Vancouver Campus
The Vancouver campus is the larger of the two, the campus occupies 420 acres of maintained land and has several beaches and views of the North Shore Mountain. The Pacific Spirit Regional Park serves as a green belt between the campus and the city. It accommodates 85% of the UBC student population and 23% of them are international students. Vancouver offers 85 academic units and over 250 research and 85 course-based master’s programs.
The campus consists of a performing art Centre which contains the Chan Shun for Performing Arts, Centre for Interactive Research in Sustainability, UBA Centre for Plant Research and UBC Welcome Centre. UBC Vancouver also offers two satellite campuses in the city of Vancouver: one at Vancouver General Hospital for medical sciences and another at Robson Square in downtown Vancouver for part-time credit and non-credit courses. UBC is also a partner that supports Great Northern Way Campus Ltd, and it is linked with a collection of nearby theological colleges that includes the Vancouver School of Theology, Regent College, Carey Theological College, and Corpus Christi College.
Okanagan Campus
The Okanagan campus is located in Kelowna; it was founded in 2005 on what was previously the North Kelowna Campus of Okanagan University College. The campus completed an expansion with the construction of several residential, teaching and research facilities and is situated on 208.6 hectares of land.
The campus houses the remaining 25% of UBC’s student population and 13% of its students are international students. It offers 62 bachelors and 19 master’s programs.

English Language Requirements
For undergraduate, postgraduate and research-based Courses, the international student must have taken any of the English language proficiency tests within 24 months of the submission of the application. The applicable test and their minimum scores are:
Undergraduate Courses
Every course that is offered by UBC has a specific set of requirements that you are required to fulfill to be a part of UBA. However, there are some general requirements that every international student needs to fulfill and they are:
- The student must have above-average marks and have completed their high school at a reputed institution.
- As we stated above the student must have taken any one of the English language proficiency tests within the last 24 months.

Postgraduate and Research-Based Courses
- The international student must have 4 years of bachelors or a Master’s degree
- The international student must have finished the previous degree with first-class/division standing.
- For the researched-based/ doctoral level, the international is required to have a master’s degree in any related field.
- As we stated above the student must have taken any one of the English language proficiency tests within the last 24 months.
- GRE is required for some courses so research well before applying
- International students that are applying for MBA and MSc B programs in the Faculty of Commerce and Business Administration are required to submit GMAT results and for the Ph.D. program must submit either GRE or GMAT.
