Scholarship in Canada 2026
Why study in Canada
Canada has become one of the most popular destinations for international students pursuing undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate studies. The reasons are clear: Canada offers high-quality education, reasonable tuition fees, excellent scholarship options, and internship opportunities that help students build strong academic and professional foundations.
One of the biggest attractions for students—especially from Pakistan—is Canada’s liberal and student-friendly policies. International students are allowed to work part-time during their studies, which helps them manage living expenses while gaining practical experience. After completing their degree, students are eligible for the Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP), which allows them to work in Canada and gain valuable experience—something many students dream of when planning to study abroad.
Of course, studying in Canada can be costly for some families, particularly due to tuition fees. However, a wide range of scholarships and financial aid programs offered by both the government and Canadian universities make it possible for students from middle-class backgrounds to pursue higher education there.
Below, we will explore some of the scholarship opportunities available specifically for Pakistani students interested in studying in Canada.

Affordable Universities in Canada (2025–2026, International Students)
Although not everyone can get a fully-funded scholarship, there are many other universities in Canada that are offering programs at a very affordable fee. Here is the list of universities that are affordable for Pakistani students:
Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) in Canada
After completing their studies in Canada, international graduates may be eligible to apply for a Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP). This open work permit allows graduates from designated Canadian institutions to work for any employer, in any location, and for an unlimited number of hours.
The PGWP can be issued for a duration ranging from 8 months up to 3 years, depending on the length of your program. Gaining Canadian work experience through the PGWP is a major advantage for those interested in transitioning to permanent residency, as many immigration pathways reward Canadian education and skilled work experience.
Graduates have 90 days from the date their completion letter becomes available to submit a PGWP application. If your study permit is nearing expiry and you need more time, you can apply to change your status to a visitor, or leave Canada and still apply for the PGWP within 180 days of receiving your completion letter. Applications are submitted online through the official website of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada.
Student Life in Canada
Every year, Canada welcomes hundreds of thousands of international students, owing to its reputation as one of the world’s most inclusive and multicultural destinations. Newcomers quickly become part of a society that values diversity, making it easier to adapt and feel at home.
Beyond academics, Canada offers a lively cultural experience. While the country is famous for hockey, students can explore much more—modern architecture, thriving art scenes, theatre, festivals featuring global celebrities, vibrant nightlife, and world-class entertainment. With its multicultural population, Canadian cuisine is equally diverse, offering flavors from around the world.
As the number of international students continues to rise, Canadian institutions and governments are consistently developing initiatives to enhance the student experience. Many universities and colleges encourage student engagement through clubs, events, and campus communities, while also offering scholarships and financial support to high-achieving international students.
All these elements—quality education, cultural diversity, safety, career opportunities, and welcoming communities—make Canada an appealing destination for students planning to study, work, and potentially build a future after graduation.
