Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189)

Skilled Independent Visa (Subclass 189) is a pathway for IT professionals who are looking for ways to migrate to Australia. The visa allows individuals to live and work permanently anywhere in Australia without needing sponsorship from an employer or state/territory. To be eligible, you must:

To be eligible, you need to:

  • Be nominated to work in an occupation on the relevant skilled occupation list
  • Have at least 3 years of experience in your nominated occupation
  • Have a relevant skill assessment, unless an exemption applies
  • Work only for your sponsor or associated entity, unless an exemption applies
