Australia is an outstanding educational hub, providing top-notch universities and scholarship opportunities for international students and excellence in the world’s class education. A number of quality education-providing universities offer various scholarship and financial assistance opportunities to international students to help them meet their educational needs and expenses while studying in Australia.

Here are some post-graduate scholarships for international students with a higher acceptance ratio and easy application processing:

The Australian Catholic University International Student scholarship:

The Australian Catholic University (ACU) offers postgraduate scholarships to bright international students willing to study at the ACU. This scholarship is totally merit-based.

Type:

This scholarship is partially funded and covers half of the total fee for the minimum duration of the course. This includes RPL or credit as well. The total number of available scholarships is 20 per year, where 14 scholarships are allocated in semester 1, while the other 6 are awarded in semester 2.

Deadline:

The students can apply from 3rd April 2024, till 31 May 2024.

Offered programs:

This scholarship is applicable for all postgraduate programs offered by the ACU, except the pathway programs, graduate certificate courses and diplomas.

Eligibility:

  • Only international students are eligible for this scholarship
  • Students applying to any course offered by the ACU (except diplomas, graduate certificate courses, and pathways) are eligible
  • Courses should be full-time
  • Students must have an offer letter for a post-graduate program from the ACU
  • Candidates must have scored at least 80%, which is approx. equivalent to a 5.8 GPA on the ACU 7-point scale.
  • The selected course must be equal or higher than the previous level of study
  • Study abroad or exchange students are not eligible for this scholarship

How to apply:

  • Students must attach evidence of their academic merit, showing a score of at least 80%, which is approx. equivalent to a 5.8 GPA on the ACU 7-point scale.
  • Students should attach their original language documents, translations (where applicable) and an official explanation of the grading system.
  • Students must pay the fee before due dates
  • The scholarship is applicable for students having approved absenteeism leaves for up to 12 months only.

Global Excellence Scholarships:

The University of Western Australia offers Global excellence scholarships to international students for providing them with educational support and assistance.

Type:

This scholarship provides AUD$24,000 for postgraduate courses. This is a merit-based scholarship, offering a discount on the annual tuition fee for full-time students.

Deadline:

For semester 1 of 2025, students should apply by the 6th of January, 2025, however, for the second semester students should apply by 2nd of June 2025.

Offered programs:

However, to be eligible to be considered for the scholarship, a candidate must be applying for an eligible postgraduate degree (by coursework). The following exclusions apply:

  • Juris Doctor (20820)
  • Doctor of Medicine (91850)
  • Doctor of Dental Medicine (91860)
  • Doctor of Optometry (91590)
  • UWA Micro-credentials

Eligibility:

  • International students must have an offer letter for a postgraduate program offered by the University of Western Australia.
  • Students must have achieved a score of minimum ATAR 85.00 or minimum WAM 65.00
  • For students with approved International Academic Pathway, the minimum required score of equivalent to more than 75.00.

How to apply:

  • Students should meet the English language requirements and show proof of IELTS, PTE or other English language tests.
  • Students must attach their academic records and proof of citizenship.
  • Students should fill out the online application form available at the University of West Australia website and submit it before the due date.

Graduate research scholarships:

The Graduate Research Scholarship is offered by the Melbourne Research Scholarship and Research Training Program (RTP), which aims to support bright international students in completing their postgraduate studies.

Type:

This is a fully-funded, merit-based scholarship applicable for 2 years for postgraduate programs. The students are also rewarded with a living allowance of $37,000 per year for two years including paid leaves such as sick leaves, maternity or parenting leave.

Deadline:

The application form must be filled and submitted by 31 October 2024.

Eligibility:

  • The students must have enrolled in a post-graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne and should meet the requirements for the degree.
  • Students must have an offer letter from the University of Melbourne for a master’s program.
  • In case of withdrawal from the course or withdrawal of enrolment by the university, all the benefits will be ceased.
  • Scholarship must be commenced in the year it has been offered.

How to apply:

  • Students should fill out the online application form by the due date and submit it on the website
  • After submission, students will receive a notification of acceptance

Tasmanian International scholarship:

This scholarship is offered by the University of Tasmania, to the international graduate students, willing to get enrolled in a master’s program at the University of Tasmania.

Type:

This is a merit-based scholarship, which provides a 25% discount on the overall tuition fee for the total duration of the course. This scholarship automatically assesses the eligible students at the time of enrolment.

Deadline:

Students should apply for the program to get automatically tested for the scholarship at least 3 months prior to the semester start date.

Offered programs:

The programs offered at the University of Tasmania, having a duration of at least 1 year are eligible.

Eligibility:

  • International students require qualifications equivalent to an Australian bachelor’s degree. Applicants must achieve the required grade in their qualifying studies, and meet any prerequisite subjects to be eligible for an offer.
  • The university requires English language requirements which can be accepted through international English language tests such as IELTS (academic), TOEFL, PTE etc. 

How to apply:

  • Students don’t need to apply separately for this scholarship, as they will be automatically tested for eligibility for this scholarship at the time of enrollment.

Medibank Scholarship

This scholarship is offered by the RMIT University, for international students seeking financial support to complete their master’s program at RMIT University.

Type:

This is a financial assistance scholarship, which will be awarded once in the total course duration, it will not be awarded annually or bi-annually. The value of this scholarship is AU$ 2,000. This scholarship will be applicable to the tuition fee, where the amount will be reduced directly from the total tuition fees of the course. this payment will be available in the account of the student after the classes have started.  There are a total of 20 scholarships available at the university for the first semester of 2025.

Deadline:

Students must apply for the scholarship by 30 October 2024 for the October intake

Offered programs:

All the RMIT-eligible programs are applicable for this scholarship.

Eligibility:

  • International students with a valid student visa
  • Candidates must have an offer letter from the RMIT university but should not be an existing RMIT student.
  • Students should have accepted the offer and have joined the Medibank comprehensive OSHC by RMIT.

How to apply:

  • Students are required to fill out the online application form
  • The students will receive approval of the scholarship with an offer letter if the application is accepted.
  • Students should accept the offer letter and should join the Medibank Comprehensive OSHC by the RMIT university
  • Students must complete an Expression of Interest.
