King’s College London: Overview 

A public research university which was established in 1829, by King George IV and the Duke of Wellington. It is ranked 35th according to (Times Higher Education World Rankings 2022) and is on 6th number in research power (2021 Research Excellence Framework). King’s College London is the most renowned international institute. It is a source of exceptional education and is one of the leading institutes in research work and studies. 

For almost 200 years, it has been at the forefront of research teaching. Providing quality education, and working to produce critical thinkers, leaders and inventors who can lead and bring a change on a global level.

Alumni

Since its establishment, the people who contributed to the betterment of human life are associated with King’s College London.

One of the well-known personalities and social reformer Florence Nightingale was part of this institute. She was the pioneer of the world’s first professional nursing school. 

James Clerk Maxwell was a professor of Natural Philosophy and proposed the classical theory of electromagnetic radiation. Later on, it was considered a pathway for the inventions of the radio, television, radar and mobile phones. 

Rosalind Franklin is famous for his work on X-ray crystallography and contributed to building the first model of the molecule. 

More, Peter Higgs (Nobel laureate for physics), Desmond Tutu (Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and Archbishop Emeritus of Cape Town, Virginia Woolf (Author) and John Ruskin (Art critic and patron)

King’s College London: Campus

There are a total of five campuses of King’s College London. 

Strand campus

It is located on the north bank of the river Thames and near to Royal Courts of justice. Following are the departments at this campus. 

  • Faculty of Arts & Humanities
  • The Dickson Poon School of Law
  • Faculty of Natural & Mathematical Sciences
  • Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy (also at the Waterloo Campus).
  • King’s Foundations
  • King’s Business School

Guy’s Campus

It is located on the south bank of the river Thames and near the London bridge. On this campus, they only offer two studies. 

  • Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine (also at the Waterloo Campus)
  • Dental Institute

St Thomas’ campus 

This campus is next to Westminster Bridge and is located in central London and opposite to the House of Parliament. Two departments are offered here. 

  • continuing medical and dental teaching
  • a museum dedicated to Florence Nightingale, founder of the Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery at King’s.

Waterloo campus 

This campus is located in London’s south bank centre which is near to the National Film Theatre. Here you can find the following departments. 

  • Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery
  • Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine (also at Guy’s Campus)
  • Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy (also at the Strand Campus)
  • London Dental Education Centre (Lon DEC), part of the Dental Institute (also at Guy’s and Denmark Hill).

Denmark Hill

This campus is in the London Borough of Southwark which is located in Camber well. The following are disciplines offered at this campus.

  • Champion Hill Residence 

King’s College London: Acceptance Rate for International Students

The acceptance rate of King’s College London is 13%, Which means they are selective in terms of granting admission. The number of enrollments from all around the world is over 33000 students every year. They only accept extraordinary students with good academic backgrounds. 

Acceptance Rate for Undergraduate

The statistics define that every year around 5000+ students apply for an undergraduate program. It is estimated that the acceptance rate of international students will increase by around 57%. 

Acceptance Rate for Postgraduate

For post-graduate programs, there is a big difference in acceptance rate. As in post-graduation the qualification and academic background also matter. In this scenario, admission becomes quite competitive. The last estimated acceptance rate for PG is 47%. 

King’s College London: Admission requirements

You have to complete each step to get admission. If you are an international student, you have to be proactive. You have to check the deadline and complete all the requirements at least 1 to 2 weeks earlier so that you may not face any issues. 

As if you are applying for this year in September intake so the admissions are open. The deadline for Medicine and Dentistry is 15 October 2022. The rest of the other courses have 26 January 2023.

Academic requirements for undergraduate programs 

There is a primary requirement which every applicant has to fulfil. First thing is relevant academic background. Secondly, you should have a minimum CGPA of 3.3 when the total CGPA is 4.0. If the institute is following any other pattern like A level or O level so it should be equivalent to the percentage of 3.3 CGPA. 

The average SAT score is 1400 on the 1600 SAT scale. And an ACT score of 26 to 30. Other compulsory tests are LNAT (for politics, philosophy  & law) and UCAT (for dentistry & medicine).

Academic requirements for post-graduate programs 

In postgraduate, the rule is also the same. You need a relevant background and should possess an Honours degree. In addition, the requirement is you have completed 16 years of education with a minimum of 75%. 

The average GMAT score is 600. 

English language requirements

If you are an international student and want to study at King’s College London then you need an English Language Prophecy certificate. It is mandatory to provide a proof of language certificate. The main purpose of a language certificate is that you are capable of understanding and performing in your academic journey even though English is not your first language.  

The basic requirement is B1 level English so you have multiple options. 

  • IELTS: 6.5-7.5
  • TOEFL IBT: 92-109
  • PTE Academic: 62-75

For post-graduation the requirement is 

  • IELTS: 6.0-7.5
  • TOEFL iBT: 80-100
  • PTE: 59-75

Application Processing fees 

  • The application processing fee for the undergraduate program is £22 (for UCAS)
  • The application processing fee for the post-graduate program is £120
