We think about the different options and jobs related to that particular field. So it all about starting your career and getting the perfect job. People invest in their careers throughout their academic studies, to get the best and suitable jobs at the end of it.
Each person would have different means to study abroad some want to complete their degree and return back to home and work in their own country, on the other hand, some actually love their study abroad destination more than they thought they would and plan to pressure their career there.
Now talking about students who travel to Australia for their higher education usually finds it hard to leave that beautiful country. And to stay they have to find a good job. After graduation, finding a first job in Australia can be a bit tricky. You have to be very wise and clear about your desired job and industry. Usually, students face different issues while job hunt especially when it’s the first job.
Therefore, to help you all, fresh graduates, Edvise hub decided to jot down some expert’s tips, that you need to know about finding the first job after graduation.
Consultants at your university:
The first thing should be checking with Consultants at your university, as they are the people who can help you best regarding who to talk, how to apply and where to look for jobs. They have contacts within the industry and with former students working in different industries; they are people who can easily refer you towards your desired job. Also, they have that experience which can help you prepare for the steps you should take to be in that particular field. In easy words, they can be real lifesavers if you approach them at the right time (during your degree).
Resume:
The second most important thing is to update your resume, make sure you have mentioned all the needed details about yourself, your contact details should be clear. You should mention your experience that can be as internee, volunteer or freelancer, putting your experience literally can increase your chances of getting a job. Also, it’s important to write about your skills and interest so recruiters should be aware of your talents.
LinkedIn:
Make sure to have your existence on LinkedIn, online visibility is hugely important today because many employers looking to hire will look there first. it is one of the biggest platforms to find the most suitable jobs. Many people use LinkedIn for job hunt and it is a really famous mean of getting jobs in Australia as well. Also having your profile on LinkedIn can allow recruiters to approach you and to know about your details, your personality, likes, and interest. Many employers value the academic learning and qualification as highly as extra-curricular or other experiences. So put everything out there loud and visible for recruiters to see what you can offer.
Find an Internship:
Ideally, it is better to start looking for an internship when you are still doing your degree. It saves up the time and gives you that experience which helps to get your first job. However, no worries! If you have not done any internship during your degree, you can even go for an internship after your graduation, if you are lucky enough ( which means you have to put a lot of hard work) you will end up getting a permanent job in that same company. However, no success comes easily, so you might have to put a little extra effort to get your first job.
One foot in front of the other:
So, when you are done with your graduation it is important to be wise and strategic. You do not want to waste your time doing what you do not want to do or do not like doing it. Think carefully about what you want, do not need to rush into any job. Take your time and process everything. Obviously! You do not want to be everyone’s ‘Lackey’ so it is better to utilize your talents and efforts in the best possible way.
