  • Australians drive on the LEFT side of the road:

Australia is one of the best places in the world to visit, where you can have so much to see and do. The big and busy cities of Australia with lots of shopping malls, a vast variety of food, beautiful coasts to explore and those endless white sandy beaches are the biggest attraction for people to visit and live in this country. The weather in Australia is usually mild year-round, so you can have a great outdoor life. The lifestyle here pretty relaxed and you can easily socialize and enjoy your stay here.

While talking about the lifestyle, so Australia places quiet close to nature as most cities are situated by the coast, so its only a short trip to the beach. This country is full of fun activities snorkeling, bushwalking or surfing are few famous things to do in here, each and every festival is celebrated at its peak in Australia, as this country has very diverse culture, you will find people of a different region, race, and language almost all around Australia. In-short settling down in Australia is quite fun and it will surely give you that right exposure you need while studying abroad.

Now let’s talk about the international student in Australia. The fastest advancing economies in the world, Australia has become a popular destination for international students. Its education system has an impressive reputation all around the world; six of its universities stand tall in the list of top 100 of the 2018 world universities rankings.

If your heart is already set for studying in Australia, then these few tips can really help you get to settle down easily. Also, it will ensure that you make the most out of your stay in Australia so you can balance your studies and social life equally. Edvise hub knows the struggle mostly students have to face due to lack of knowledge about the environment, culture, and people. That is why we try to provide information that can help you all in the best possible way.

Get over with jet lag quickly:

If you have never traveled before across the globe, be ready for some very sickening Jet lag, it is for real trust me. Try your best to flow into the new time zone as quickly as you can, try keeping your self-awake during the day if you arrive in the morning or put yourself to the bed if you land at night. This will help you get through with jet lag in the quickest way. Once your body adopts this little change you’ll be just fine to roll.

Studying dilemmas:

Obviously! When you travel from one country to another there are so many changes one can notice, but the biggest hurdle international students have to deal with is a difference in student culture, this can be the real challenge you have to face when you travel across the world to earn your degree. Well. It’s quite understandable if you take time to adjust to a new environment, but it’s better to do as quickly as you can.

New grading System:

Although it would be a bit weird at first, eventually you will get used to it. Australian universities mostly use the same system of grading. Like from highest to lowest but here they use a letter to grade your work.

HD (high distinction) D is for (distinction) C (credit) P (pass) and F (fail), now the important thing to know is the criteria that you need to know to score these grades.

Learn Some Slangs:

Well! Living in Australia will defiantly teach one thing at least, how to talk in the shortest ever version. If you are expecting people in Australia to talk to you like “crocodile Dundee” then trust me you will be left with disappointment. Aussies slang is not really difficult, only if you know the drill. It mainly revolves around the word abbreviation; you can pick it up quite easily. Here are some of the commonly used slang in Australia for you:

  • Arvo: afternoon
  • Brekkie: breakfast
  • Heaps: a lot / very
  • She’ll be right: it’ll be fine.
  • Barbie: BBQ
  • Footy: football
  • Macca’s: McDonald’s
  • Snag: sausage
  • Mozzie: mosquito
  • Veggies: vegetables
  • Sunnies: sunglasses

Australians drive on the LEFT side of the road:

Now talking about roads and driving the first thing you really need to be careful, checking the RIGHT side of the road first, while crossing it. The second most important thing, if you are planning to drive through the Australian countryside, you really need to watch out for the kangaroos. Yes! They can really jump right in front of your car especially during the early morning, around the sunset or at night. Also, they can cause some serious damage or accidents. So be careful!

Well! I guess you are fully prepared to study abroad in Australia! Although the paperwork, visa application, and financial situation are going to be a real headache – But it all worth the adventure and fun you will have in Australia.  You will be exploring, learning, growing and having all this fun in Australia. If you want to know more about Australia and things about it. Feel free to check Edvise hub’s different blogs on it.
