Quick Answer
Refused a visa and weighing up an ART review? Since 1 July 2026, the ART migration review fee for a reviewable migration decision is $3,727, the protection decision review fee is $2,293, and the standard application fee is $1,195. What matters most: it's your payment date, not your lodgement date, that decides which fee applies.
How Much Is the ART Application Fee in 2026?
Under ART fees 1 July 2026, the updated schedule looks like this:
| Application Type |
New Fee (from 1 July 2026) |
| Reviewable migration decision |
$3,727 |
| Reviewable protection decision |
$2,293 (generally payable only if unsuccessful) |
| Standard application fee |
$1,195 |
| Small business taxation decision |

| Certain taxation decisions (under $5,000) |

| Guidance and Appeals Panel |
$1,195 |
| Concessional application fee |
$100 (unchanged) |
So, how much does ART review cost for most visa refusal cases? For non-protection migration matters, budget for $3,727 — up from $3,580 the previous year.
When Do ART Fees Increase?
ART fees rise every year on 1 July, in line with the Consumer Price Index, under Rule 33 of the Administrative Review Tribunal Rules 2024 and Regulations 4.13A and 4.31BA of the Migration Regulations 1994. The 2026 increase is already in effect, so anyone paying now is on the new schedule.
Does the ART Fee Depend on Lodgement Date or Payment Date?
This is where applicants get caught out. The ART has confirmed the payment date — not the lodgement date — determines your fee. Even if you lodged your application before 1 July 2026, paying on or after that date means you pay the higher amount. If your review is pending, check your payment status now.
